Step By Step Pattern

Materials:

  • Bernat® Crushed Velvet™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 315 yds/288 m)Burgundy (16005) 3 balls size U.S. I/9 [5.5 mm] crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. 1 pillow from 20″ [51 cm] square

Abbreviations:

  • Approx = Approximately
  • Beg = Beginning
  • Ch = Chain(s)
  • Cont = Continue
  • DC = Double crochet
  • Dcbp = Yoh and draw up a loop around the post of next st at the back of work, inserting the hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through loops on hook) twice. 1 dcbp made.
    Dcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around the post of next st at the front work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through loops on hook) twice. 1 cup made.

Step by step Pattern

Note: Ch 2 at beg of the row counts as dc.

Front:

  • Ch 60.
  • Foundation row: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in each ch to end of ch. 58 dc. Turn.
  • 1st to 3rd rows: Ch 2. *1 dc around each of next 4 sts. 1 dc around each of next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. 1 DC in the last St. Turn.
  • 4th to 6th rows: Ch 2. *1 dc around each of next 4 sts. 1 dc around each of next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. 1 dc in the last St. Turn. These 6 rows form a Basketweave pat.

Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 20″ [51 cm], ending on a 3rd or 6th row. Fasten off.

BACK (make 2 alike):

  • Ch 11.
  • 1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook.1 sc in each ch to end of the chain. Turn. 10 sc.
  • 2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep last row until work from beg(when slightly stretched) measures 20″ [51 cm].
  • Do not fasten off.

Proceed as follows:

  • 1st row: Turn work sidewise. Ch 1. Work 58 sc alongside of ribbing. Turn. Place marker at the end of row.
  • 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep the last row until work from the marker measures 12½” [32 cm]. Fasten off.
